Allyn Johnson, DDS

Dr. Johnson attended the University Of Tennessee School Of Dentistry, graduating in the spring of 2015. While at UT she received the James Wilson Award, The Dean’s Honorary Odontologic Society Award, the Operative Dentistry Award as well as the Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Award.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors from Arkansas State University in May of 2010 with a bachelors in Clinical Laboratory Science. While at Arkansas State University she was on the Chancellor’s List from 2006-2009 as well as the Dean’s List in 2010, she was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi, member of Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity, member of the debate team, National Society for Collegiate Scholars as an officer and the National Panhellenic Conference as an officer.

She was born and raised in Germantown.  Dr. Johnson is married to her high school sweetheart, Nathan. He is currently in medical school studying internal medicine. While they do not have any children yet, they do a have a 4 legged baby, a Boston terrier name Delia. Dr. Johnson loves ballet and dancing and danced with the Moscow state ballet when they came to Memphis, performing as a snowflake in the infamous Nutcracker Ballet. She later performed with Ballet Memphis until changing to competitive dance with Houston middle school Pom and Houston JV Pom winning Nationals in 2003. She returned to studio dance with Midsouth Dance Academy where she dabbled in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, liturgical, lyrical, belly dance, and break dancing. She even helped with the Grizzly Girls dance team try outs in 2005. She still loves to dance but it’s mostly at weddings and goofing around with family and friends now.

Dr. Johnson said she always knew she liked taking care of people, when she was in fifth grade she decided she would become a doctor. After a knee injury in high school, she started working with the school’s athletic trainer and got her first taste of emergency medicine. A family friend who is an orthopedic surgeon encouraged her to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.  While writing her application essay for medical school (and most likely grinding her teeth she says) she chipped her front tooth. While getting it fixed, her dentist suggested she stay and see what he does. She loved that he got to see whole families, varying levels of severity of procedures, play with colors, and sculpt little masterpieces that were not only beautiful but functional. She was hooked! The next day she started applying to dental school and studying for the DAT. While in dental school, she realized she had a passion for cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Johnson feels that she has been blessed with amazing mentors and a wonderful job that allows her to live her dream by replacing pain with smiles every day.
